TAGBILARAN CITY - Bohol's second district Congressman Erico Aristotle Aumentado on Sunday said there is a strong possibility of a shipyard soon to rise in the northern town of Buenavista in Bohol, which will create massive employment opportunities for the people in the town and neighboring areas.

In a statement, Aumentado met with representatives of a company working to establish a shipyard in Buenavista town.

Buenavista town is about two and a half hours north of Tagbilaran City.

The executives of the company also met with Buenavista town Mayor Ronald Lowell Tirol to discuss the plans and to scout for potential areas for the location of the future shipyard.

The solon found the meeting a fruitful one and will generate plenty of job opportunities for the people not just of the town but adjacent places in Bohol's second district.

Aumentado, however, expressed caution about balancing the eco-cultural tourism and agriculture aspects of Bohol and development on the other.

He clarified while he welcomes development, it shouldn't come at the expense of the environment.

Earlier, Aumentado filed a bill in the Lower House seeking to outlaw the establishment of a coal-fired plant in the second district of Bohol in an attempt to counter potential damage caused by coal power plants to the province's environment.
