BATANGAS CITY— A Korean national and general manager of a construction company was found hanging inside his office at the 5th floor of Maptan Building here Wednesday night.

Batangas City chief of police Superintendent Sancho Celedio identified the victim as Hyung Dong Kim, 56, from South Korea, staying at Pontefino Residences, Barangay Pallocan East, this city.
Victim was found hanging from cord at the wall of his office by his driver, Rommel Lontoc, at around 10:15 p.m.
He was declared dead on arrival at the Jesus of Nazareth Hospital here.
Initial investigation disclosed that victim was observed by his officemates as being depressed, possibly because of work delays, according to Celedio.
Meanwhile, Rey Nelson Amparo, Public Relations Officer of JG Summit Petrochemicals confirmed that victim’s company, Ventanas Philippines Construction Inc., is a sub-contractor of JG Summit for the naphtha cracker expansion plant project in Barangay Simlong this city.
He said the victim arrived here last April for the project but Amparo did not elaborate about the cause of the construction project’s work delays.
