Last Tuesday, Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 20 Judge Marivic Balisi-Umaliissued an order to the NBI to transfer the 10 fratmen to the Manila City Jail within 48hours. Suarez explained the NBI had to complete the documentation and secure clearances before the 10 fratmen have to be transferred. Those who were ordered brought to Manila City Jail were Mhin Weig Chan, Jose MiguelSalamat, John Robin Ramos, Marcelino Bagtang Jr., Arvin Balag, Ralph Trangia, Axel Munro Hipe, Oliver Onofre, Joshua Joriel Macabali, and Hans Matthew Rodrigo. After a Manila RTC issued warrants for their arrest, the 10 fratmen surrendered to theNBI last March 23 and have been detained at the NBI facility since. All 10 have been charged with violation of Republic Act 8049, the Anti-Hazing Law, after the Department of Justice (DOJ) found probable cause to indict them over Castillo’s death.
