Tagbilaran City – The city government is strengthening the anti-smoking drive eyeing the implementation of the anti-smoking ordinance by July 1, which is also the foundation day of the city.
Jeannette Busano of the City Media Bureau revealed yesterday that the city officials just conducted the coordinating meeting for the implementation of the anti-smoking ordinance.
The meeting was attended by the ordinance’s author Kag. Elizar Borja together with City Health Officer Dr. Jela Pondoc and other stakeholders.
She said the implementing rules and regulations of the ordinance were discussed.
Busano said the selected members of the city enforcement force, traffic enforcers and the police will undergo training on the implementation of the anti-smoking ordinance on June 13 to 15.
The anti-smoking ordinance designates the smoking areas in the city. The ordinance also outlaws the use of electronic cigarettes in public places.
At present, smoking is prohibited in public places in the city by virtue of the Executive Order No. 26 issued by President Duterte.
