Ron Antonio, along with 100 Zumba instructors all over the country, will attempt on May 19 to break their own record for the Guinness World Records’ largest ever Zumba class held in a single venue. Ron Antonio (mb.com.ph) Ron Antonio It was on July 19, 2015 that a total of 12,975 Filipinos in yellow shirts gathered on the streets of Mandaluyong and smashed the previous world record in that category. Antonio revealed they target some 20,000 participants this year. The event will last for about an hour. “We invited a representative from the Guinness World Record to witness the event. They will make sure that we reach the 20 thousandth mark and, hopefully, lumagpas pa.” The local government of Camarines Sur is tasked for the recruitment and pre-registration of the participants. According to Antonio, the attempt coincides with the province’s annual celebration of Kaogma Festival so “people should expect an extravagant and spectacular celebration that day.” Celebrities Sunshine Cruz, Yassi Pressman and Andrew E. will participate. On July 14, Ron’s “Zayaw Pilipinas” will hold the “Guinness Victory Concert” at the PICC Forum Tent. Then from June to December this year, a nationwide and overseas tour will be in full swing. Zumba lovers are encouraged to join the celebrations. Dance for all Ron, a member of the international Zumba Instructor Network (ZIN), has made a name for himself in the industry. Prior, he was a recording artist and a member of the now-disbanded Filipino vocal group WiseGuys. It was in 2012 when he tried his hand at Zumba and according to him, he never imagined it will pave a way for his “showbiz comeback.” “Honestly, I never imagined myself going back to the limelight,” he admitted. “But yeah, it feels great to be back. I can say na mas masaya ako ngayon lalo na I see ‘yung suporta ng mga fans ko before, nandiyan pa din sila for me.” Like the others, Ron underwent training to attain his professional Zumba instructor certificate. In 2016, he launched the first-ever OPM Zumba-inspired dance album in the world, “Zayaw Pilipinas.” It is also the first in the local music and fitness industry. Produced by MCA Universal, the album has seven songs including: “Sayaw Mo, Galaw Mo,” “Hey Mare,” “Dance With You,” “Sa Liwanag Ng Bituin,” “One Dance,” “Baile Calente,” and “Zayaw Pilipinas Anthem.” Some of 20,000 Zumba-goers will participate on May 19 event. Ron shared that Filipinos like Zumba because they love dance. “'Yun naman ang simpleng reason diyan eh. Ang mga Filipinos, mahilig talagang sumasayaw pero minsan siyempre nahihiya. Pero dahil ang Zumba may nagli-lead o may leader, patok siya sa atin,” he explained. Since majority of “Zumba-goers” are female enthusiasts, Ron encourages more people, especially males, to join the dance party. He noted that it is a good form of cardiovascular exercise and it would be great bonding moment among couples, friends, and family. “We want this to become a family-affair. Yan talaga ang advocacy ko na lahat ng mga miyembro ng pamilya mag-su-zumba, from kids to the elders,” he said. Ron teaches regular Zumba classes in Parañaque. ++++ 'Zayaw Pilipinas' event calendar 2018: May 19 (Pili, Camarines Sur) Ron Antonio will be vying to break the Guinness World Records for the Biggest Zumba Party (Official Attempt) Ron Antonio will be leading along with 100 Zumba Instructors all over the Philippines.
