Former K-pop girl group 2NE1 member CL will make her debut as actress in the Hollywood film “Mile 22.”

The film stars Mark Wahlberg who plays the role of James Silva, a CIA agent who, together with his team members, will attempt to bring to another country an asset who holds sensitive information. Other stars in the film are John Malkovich, Lauren Cohan, Iko Uwais and Ronda Rousey.
According to YG Life, CL plays killer named “Queen,” who is a member of the global crime syndicate Overwatch.
“Mile 22” is directed by Peter Berg whose film credits include “Very Bad Things,” “Battleship,” “Deepwater Horizon” and “Patriots Day.” The movie will be released in the US on Aug. 3.
It is CL’s first film since making a cameo appearance together with other 2NE1 members in the 2009 Korean movie “Girlfriends,” which starred Kang Hye-jung, Huh E-jae, Han Chae-young, and Bae Soo-bin.
Earlier, Scooter Braun, who represents Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, hinted that CL’s new music will come out soon.
CL has been focusing on her career in the US and fans have been clamoring for CL to release new material.
In an video posted on CL’s Instagram account, Braun defended himself, saying, “It isn’t my fault. I’ve been attacked. But I’m working really hard because we have the music. It is ready and it is time for it to come out.”
He told CL, who is beside him, “So CL, call your fans off. I’m trying to get this music out. Let’s go, let’s go. An announcement is coming soon” to which CL says, “It’s time.”
