FDA advises public not to buy Belgian beer as some might contain glass fragments

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advised the public to avoid purchasing specific products of Belgian beer Stella Artois because some might contain fragments of glass.

In an advisory, the FDA stated that specific batches of 330-milliliter bottles of Stella Artois beer are being recalled by its manufacturer due to the possibility that it may contain "small glass particles that may have leaked from the bottles."
The beer bottles that are being recalled have best before stamps of April 25 and 26; June 3, as well as September 15 and 16. The recall is being implemented by the brand's local distributor Booze On-Line Inc., the FDA said.
"The recall involves only the above identified codes and no other Stella Artois beer distributed in the Philippines are affected," the agency said.
The FDA said that no consumer have yet to report a complaint but the product recall is being implemented as a precautionary measure "to ensure utmost safety of the public."
"All Officers of the Field Regulatory Operations Office (FROO) are hereby ordered to monitor the availability of the product in the market and instruct the concerned establishment to return the sealed stocks to Booze Online, Inc. for proper replacement by the distributor," the agency further stated.
The FDA said that those who had purchased the said beer product may contact the distributor through
[email protected]; or may send an email at [email protected] for questions and additional information.
