Rookie cop kills teacher, self A rookie police officer ended up taking his own life on Tuesday night after he killed his former girlfriend, an elementary teacher in Caloocan City. Authorities identified the cop as PO1 Danilo Roa, 29, assigned as beat patroller at Bagong Barrio precinct in Caloocan, while his ex-girlfriend was 27-year-old Lyka Jane Arciaga, a Grade 3 teacher at Kaunlaran Elementary School. Roa sustained a lone gunshot wound in the right temple while Arciaga succumbed due to gunshot wounds in the cheek, chest, neck, and arm, said case investigator PO3 Michael Olpindo. Arciaga was inside her room located at the second floor of an apartment along Kaunlaran Village in Barangay 22, when Roa forcibly barged in by destroying the door at 1 p.m. Around four hours later, 59-year-old Luisito Ondonio, a resident in the area told the Manila Bulletin that he heard Arciaga shouting for help before he heard at least six gunshots coming from the teacher's room. The city police's Special Weapon And Tactics (SWAT) team responded by entering the room where they discovered the lifeless bodies of Roa and Arciaga. Recovered from the scene were a caliber 9 mm firearm with ammunition, six empty shells and a jacket of fired bullets. National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Camilo Cascolan, who went in the crime scene, said they are now looking into the "love angle" as the possible motive behind the deaths. Police said Roa was facing a harassment complaint filed by Arciaga at the PNP's Internal Affair Service. It appeared that Roa wanted to reconcile with the teacher bu that the latter had spurned him. (Kate Louise Javier) Argument sparks stabbing Police have started to hunt a man who stabbed his drinking buddy during an argument on the liquor they bought in Quezon City Tuesday night. Investigators of the Quezon City Police identified the victim as 23-year-old Melvin Estose, a resident of San Luis Street, Barangay Gulod in Novaliches, Quezon City. It appears that Estose, with the suspect identified by the police as Narciso Pepito Jr., a 29-year-old restaurant service crew, and another companion were having a drinking session inside Pepito's house along Nazario Street in Barangay Gulod past 11 p.m. The witness told the police that Pepito handed Estose money and asked him to buy liquor for them. However, when Estose arrived with the alcohol, the suspect demanded that the change was inexact resulting in an argument between the two. In the middle of their confrontation, an irked Pepito reached for a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim on his back causing him to fall on the ground. Pepito repeatedly stabbed defenseless Estose. Upon seeing the victim bloodied, Pepito immediately escaped, bringing with him the bladed weapon used. Estose was rushed by his relatives to Novaliches General Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival due to stab wounds on his back and left shoulder. The victim's body was brought to PNP Crime Laboratory for autopsy. (Alexandria San Juan) Store’s cash stolen A house helper was placed behind bars after allegedly stealing P12,000 in cash from a sari-sari store Tuesday in Sta. Ana, Manila. Case investigator PO2 Sigmur Muros identified the suspect as Jefferson Canlas, 25, a stay-in helper at an apartment located at House No. 1534 Main St., Sta. Ana, Manila. Prior to the incident, an occupant identified as Rosalie Benedicto, 50, was tending to her sari-sari store located beside the suspect's room on May 8 at around 3:53 p.m. She then discovered that the money inside her water container was missing, prompting her to seek the help of their landowner identified as Jhun-Jhun Villas. Villas reportedly noticed that a partition wall made out of plywood inside the store was destroyed. Upon tracing the other side of the damage, the two discovered that the wall was forcibly opened from inside the suspect's room. Villas then called the attention of the suspect and subsequently brought him to the Sta. Ana Police Station. Authorities failed to recover the stolen cash from the suspect, who will face charges for robbery. (Hans Amancio)   Lower Bicutan man shot dead A 49-year-old man was shot dead while another was injured after they were gunned by unidentified armed men in Barangay New Lower Bicutan Taguig City past midnight today. The victim, identified as Jonathan Siera, 49, a resident of DOTC Compound, Purok 2A, New Lower Bicutan, Taguig City died on the spot from a lone gunshot wound in the head. The other, identified as Gleen Esperanza, is now recuperating from his injuries at the Taguig-Pateros District Hospital. Investigation by the Taguig City Police disclosed that the incident occurred at about 12:37 a.m. along Magsaysay St., Brgy. New Lower Bicutan, Taguig City. According to police, the victims were walking along the given area when the suspects without apparent reason shot them. Siera's wife said he had no known enemies. The injured Esperanza was immediately rushed to the hospital. Investigation by the Police Community Precinct 2 of the Taguig City Police revealed that both victims were involved in illegal drug activities and that both were included in PCP 2 drug watch list. (Dhel Nazario) Two killed in Makati, Taguig Two persons were killed and one other was seriously injured in a separate shooting incidents that occurred in the cities of Makati and Taguig, early morning. In the first incident, the Southern Police District said that Ronald Padillo,47, of Pasong Tamo, Makati City died when sprayed with bullets while sleeping inside his passenger jeepney. Supt. Jenny Tecson, SPD spokesperson, said that Padillo suffered three gunshot wounds in the chest and at the back of his body. Tecson said that the companion of Padillo Lorenz Dulon, was hit by a stray bullet, and is still being treated at the Ospital ng Makati. She said that based on the report of the Makati City police, the incident happened at about 1:00 a.m. along Barasuan St., Barangay Olympia, Makati City. The SPD spokesperson said that according to the sister of the victim, Dulce Averilla, the victim and his friend Dulon were sleeping inside Padillo’s passenger jeepney when two men aboard a motorcycle arrived and sprayed the duo with bullets. Averilla also admitted to the police that Padillo was a drug dependent but had already stopped using illegal drugs. In Taguig City, the president of a neighborhood association died when shot by an unidentified suspect while walking on his way to a sari-sari store. The victim was identified as Jonathan Sira,49, and a resident of Magsaysay St., Lower Bicutan, Taguig City. He suffered several gunshot wounds in the body and died on the spot. The police said that the incident happened at about 12:30 a.m. a few meters away from the house of the victim. Arlene, wife of the victim, told police that prior to the shooting incident, the victim asked her for P10 peso coin to buy cigarette at a nearby sari-sari store. She said that few minutes later somebody was knocking at their door and she was informed that her husband was shot dead by an unidentified suspect. Arlene added that the victim was not a drug user.
