Nico Antonio believes in astrology. Of Chinese descent – his mother, movie producer Attorney Joji Alonso, comes from the Tans – the 34-year-old actor consults with a Feng Shui master and this year he has been advised to take the bar exam in 2019.

Note that after graduating with a degree in European Studies from the Ateneo de Manila University, he pursued Law at San Beda College, completing the course in 2013.
Yet it’s only next year that he will attempt to take the test.
“Nagtatanong pa ako sa Feng Shui consultant ko kung magandang mag-take ng bar next year,” he said at the time of interview. “Kasi every year ’pag nakikita ko ’yung mga pumapasa ng bar, nalulungkot ako.”
“I mean, masaya naman ako for them. Pero nalulungkot ako personally kasi hindi ko man lang na-experience ’yung na experience nila – ’yung kaba, ’yung pag-take ng bar, ’yung pag-abang sa resulta,” he added.
Few days later, Nico shared the good news on his Instagram story.
On a screen-grabbed picture of his conversation with Feng Shui consultant Norman, the latter replied, “Yes sir you may take the bar exams next year po. Let me know when you are to start review(ing).”
Nico claimed his mom has also been telling him in past years to delay taking the bar exams.
“Eh kasi sinasabi niya na hindi ako for that (Law),” he divulged. “Kasi nga kailangan ng sobrang gugol ng oras du’n. Kasi nga mag-aaral ka ulit. Siyempre, after five years marami ng nangyari sa batas natin.”
But it’s never a problem with Nico. After all, his guiding principle in life is “If there’s a will, there’s a way.”
Unless he gives people the wrong idea about his mother, though, he cleared that his mother is “very supportive” of all his endeavors.
“Basta ang sabi niya lang kasi sa akin, just finish law school and that’s it. You pursue your other interests which for me is acting,” he shared.
Also, taking the bar exams took the back seat because he chose to prioritize his family. The actor married film producer Angel Garces in 2010 and they have sons Josiah and Jacob.
“Kaya nag-backseat muna ’yung personal goal ko which is to become a lawyer. Kasi pinursue ko muna ’yung acting which is nga ’yung niche ko, ’yun ’yung strength ko so du’n ako nag-focus,” he said.
Although he would sometimes regret not striking while the iron is hot, Nico would like to think his choice bore fruit – again, thanks to Feng Shui.
“Kasi ever since nu’ng nagpa-consult ako sa Feng Shui naging maganda ’yung takbo ng career ko,” he said.

According to him, it started in 2015 when he became part of the hit rom-com series “On The Wings Of Love.”
Nico said the Feng Shui expert is no fortune teller.
“Hindi naman siya parang manghuhula na ‘Oh ito magkakaroon ka ng magandang pelikula o yayaman ka’ – hindi naman ganu’n. He’s just saying na ‘If you do this, ’yung wealth spirit papasok.’ So puro ganu’n lang siya, very general lang.”
So since then, Nico, together with his wife, regularly consults with the Feng Shui master before Chinese New Year and even sometimes within the year. The couple also buys good luck charms and amulets in Binondo.
“Maganda ’yung pasok ng taon para sa akin,” said he, who was born in the Year of the Pig.
Recall that in January, the comedy film “Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes” of which he is cast member, did well at the tills. His next project, “The Good Son,” received good reviews.
Nico will soon do a new teleserye. He is shooting the movie “Pinay Beauty” co-starring Maxine Medina.
This month, his CineFilipino movie “Delia And Sammy” by Therese Cayaba will have a gala screening tomorrow, 6:30 p.m. at SM Megamall. One of this year’s Feature Length finalist, it is about an ill-tempered old actress out to find her family along with her equally difficult husband.
