“Dobol B Sa News TV” successfully combines radio and TV in delivering top news headlines and weather bulletins as well as entertainment tidbits and public service announcements. As it turned a year older few days ago, the show’s big four – Mike Enriquez, Arnold Clavio, Ali Sotto and Joel Reyes Zobel – are not about to let up, promising to give more in the coming days. “Dobol B Sa News TV” consists of four programs: “Saksi Sa Dobol B,” “Super Balita Sa Umaga,” “Sino? (segment Jeng-Jeng and Balitawit) and “Dobol A Sa Dobol B.” According to data from Nielsen Radio Audience Measurement, “Double B Sa News TV” topped the weekday morning programming in Mega Manila during the last quarter of 2017 and first quarter of 2018. Ali believes this is the fruit of their hard work. Kami ang sumusulat ng Jeng-Jeng at Balitawit. I guess kaya nagiging successful ang show kasi nagha-handa, nagre-research kami. We do our homework na kahit sinong politiko pa ang isalang, alam namin ang sasabihin at kaya naming makipag-palitan ng kaalaman ng maayos,” she said. Mike and Arnold said having no script to follow makes the show more entertaining. But beyond that, the four know their core: To inform and educate the audience. “Ayon nga sa isang kasabihan, ‘When you’re having fun, you don’t have to work a single day of your life,”’ Mike noted. “(Having a successful show) has to be a mix of both professional and personal chemistry. Hindi namin sinasabing mga geniuses kami. We think that it’s just God’s gift. We’re blessed. Kumbaga we’re in the right place at the right time, with the right people.” They are not hogging all the glory, though. The four acknowledged the hard work of the crew and staff, saying they are all part of the history. Mike admitted he sees ratings as indication if the show is doing well or not. And while he is aware commercial load is a priority to the producers, the broadcaster is confident that, “we have to earn the trust of the people so that promotions follow.” Good friends If you’re an avid listener, we’re pretty sure you’ve heard Mike, Ali, Joel and Arnold bantering with each other, saying things like “bwisit ka” and “salot ka” on air. But don’t get them wrong. It’s just plain jokes and thankfully, they’re not pikon. “Minsan nagkakapikunan din pero naaayos naman. I guess kaya ganu’n kami magsalita kasi ganu’n na kami ka-komportable sa isa’t-isa,” Ali said. In fact, they are good friends off-cam, kumares and kumpares in real life. I like about him, he treats me like a family. Kinuha niya ako ninang ng anak niya.” “Si Igan (Arnold’s nickname), we’ve been together since 1997. Ang gusto ko naman sa kaniya, he’s got my back. Siya ’yung palagi kong takbuhan kapag may problema ako.” How does it feel being lone woman in the group? “ – Hindi siya babae! Mas lalaki pa kaya siya sa amin!” Arnold butted in. Joey, on his part, shared Ali is the most welcoming person he has ever met while he describes Arnold as “best golf buddy.” “Si Ali kasi ang alam ko artista siya, hindi ko alam na napaka-friendly niya, she always gives me the best working environment. Si Igan naman, he always brings up the best in me every time we play golf. Kinakailangan kong galingan palagi because he’s really good at it. They are really good friends outside of our profession,” he said. They are like one big, happy family, Arnold noted. “Kumpleto na eh, may nanay ako, may tatay ako, may kapatid akong bunso,” he quipped. “Kumbaga wala na akong mahihiling pa. Kaya masaya ako na sila ang kasama ko araw-araw sa loob o labas man ng trabaho.” Speaking about their Boss Mike, the three were one in saying he never let them feel he is above them. “Mike Enriquez doesn’t make me feel he is my boss. He believes in me. Siya ’yung naniwala na kaya ko magtuloy-tuloy dito sa broadcasting industry,” Ali said. Joel shared, “Mike is a very strict boss but he is a very good friend. Actually malaki ang utang na loob ko kay Mike kasi siya ang nagbigay ng pinaka-malaking break sa career ko.” Mike returned the compliment. He said that should God give him a chance to repeat his life, he would still choose to work with the three. “Nasabi na nilang lahat (ng papuri) pero ako, kung bibigyan ako ng pagkakataon na maulit ang buhay ko sa broadcasting, wala akong ibang hahangarin pang maka-trabaho kung hindi silang tatlo… si Ali, si Joel at si Arnold,” he said.
