Military uniform found in shabu lab; 25,969 grams, 4 containers confiscated

CAMP QUIRINO, Ilocos Sur — Military uniforms were among those found inside suspected shabu makeshift laboratory where huge sachets of shabu and four containers of liquid materials were discovered by authorities Saturday in the Brgy Kaliwakiw, Salcedo, town.

But Sr Supt Jovencio Badua, Ilocos Sur police director, told this writer in a telephone interview that they are still investigating the case to verify who really was behind the illegal drugs.
Badua said the government troops suddenly uncovered an abandoned makeshift hut allegedly used in illegal activity where 74 pieces plastic packs containing white crystalline substance or shabu weighing 25,690 grams; four (4) plastic containers and other paraphernalias were stored.
“We are still in the process of investigating the area whether this is a laboratory of illegal drug lord or put up by the New People’s Army rebels,” said Col Badua.
The area is known to be a lair of the NPA rebels.
Also discovered from the area were one (1) unit air pump; one (1) blue jacket with hood; one (1) blue raincoat; one (1) green pants with initial LNC; one (1) yellow raincoat; campaign materials for Joker Arroyo and a certain “Carino”; one (1) yellow overall suit with markings “NOEL”; one fatigue (1) shirt; one (1) military shirt marked “Maalab 2004 Commando”; one (1) brown sweat shirt; two (2) lousy caps; one (1) green cargo pants; one (1) yellow jacket with markings “Van Ourt”; one (1) rig belt; three (3) lantern flashlights; one (1) red gallon with nozzle; assorted kitchen wares and utensils; and two (2) Payment/Redemption slip for Mutual Funds.
Badua said a hand pump water supply, damaged comfort room, clay stove, pieces of used tires were also seen in the area.
“Sa pag imbestiga namin ay private property yung area. Mahirap mamonitor mga pumapasok dun sa Brgy Kaliwakiw dahil forested ang area,malayo at masukal.,” said Badua.
He said that the white crystalline substance that were recovered had been turned over to PDEA for laboratory test.
“ Suspected encampment po to ng armed group at criminal elements po,” added Badua.
