A Communist New People’s Army Terrorist (CNT) was killed and five others were captured, following an encounter with government troops in Laguna, Wednesday.
First Lieutenant Felice Vida Solano, command information officer of the Armed Forces of the Philippines-Southern Luzon Command, identified the slain CNT as Ismael Criste, alias “Ka Maeng,” a member of the NPA’s Special Partisan Unit (SPARU).
Based on a report she received, Solano said the encounter took place at a checkpoint in Barangay Dambo, Pangil, Laguna at 4:10 p.m. last Wednesday.
The names of the five captured CNT’s are still kept under wraps by the military. But Solano said they yielded two .45-caliber pistols, an Ingram firearm, a garand rifle, two hand grenades, and subversive documents.
It was learned that Criste, who headed the group aboard a red Daihatsu vehicle, was traveling the area when they encountered members of the Laguna Provincial Public Safety Company (PPSC).
