Kim Chiu and President Rodrigo Duterte (Instagram) On Tuesday, May 1, Chiu hosted Duterte’s Labor Day event held at the EIC Convention Center in Cebu City. In his speech, where he announced the executive order banning “Endo,” the president was briefly distracted after he saw the teen idol at the side of the stage. “Pero siya man na si Kim Chiu? Ikaw ‘yan ma’am? Di, niingon ko ‘gwapa ka’. Asa nga ko? (But wait, is that Kim Chiu? You are ma’am? No, I said you’re beautiful. Where Am I?),” he said. Duterte even smiled as he couldn’t believe he and the actress were in the same event. An equally giddy Chiu posted a photo of herself wearing a white dress with the Philippine President by her side. “What a great experience!!!! Just finished hosting an event for labor day here in my home town CEBU and in the presence of the President of the Philippines, Pres. Rodrigo Duterte!!! Ang galing!! Never thought of this moment!!! Kulba jud pero lingaw kaayo ug feeling! (I felt nervous but I’m very happy),” she wrote on Instagram. She hosted the event alongside Kapuso actor Tom Rodriguez. “Thanks@akosimangtomas for being a great co-host bisaya/waray represent! May 1,2018 this experience will definitely one for the books!!! Daghang salamat!!!! (Thank you very much),” she added.
