With the world-famous island taking a “rest” for the next six months to rejuvenate, 2018, obviously, will not have those “LaBoracay” (Labor Day + Boracay) parties always held in the past on May 1 since 2013. So, no flaunting your beach body while holding your favorite red cup for now, no glorious massage on the shores, and silence that epic rave music, will you?

We can always look back on the good ole days, though. And what better way to do that than through the celebrities who went there and the events that rocked the casbah?
Remember the time Steve Aoki together with other DJs turned up the crowd with eargasmic music for this famous event? And some of you might have even bumped into the likes of Bela Padilla, Nicole Gale Anderson, Karel Marquez, Vice Ganda, Andi Eigenmann, Jed Madela, and BJ Pascual in Boracay (we bet your selfies with them are still on your phone).
Last 2016, Boracay was on fire! Celebrity hunks Teejay Marquez, Jerome Tan, Kenzo Ortiz, David Guison and some international models like River Viiperi (Paris Hilton’s ex-boyfriend!) went there and made the girls squeal with delight.
Who else? Tom Taus, celebrity couples Aubrey Miles and Troy Montero, and recently married Billy Crawford and Coleen Garcia partied in Boracay four years ago.
Last year, social media influencers Wil Dasovich, Daniel Marsh, Baninay Bautista, Patrice Averilla flew to Boracay to jam with fellow YouTube vloggers.
Volleyball superstar Rachel Anne Daquis, Filipino racing driver Marlon Stockinger and veterinarian-host Doctor Ferds Recio also beat the heat one Labor Day by doing LaBoracay.
Year after year, people attended those beach parties, likely unaware of the island’s improper waste disposal issues.
Clean up party
It’s not all party till you drop. There have been times some brands came up with campaigns to try and help the island restore its beauty.
Nestea spearheaded the “NESTEA Love The Beach” campaign two years ago with their celebrity ambassadors Jessy Mendiola, Joyce Pring, Tom Taus, Arisse De Santos, and Sam YG.
The stars worked hand in hand with volunteers in picking up litter around the island. Others even dived to do underwater clean up. And Jessy, she helped the locals plant coral reefs on tiles.
Right now, all of us look forward to LaBoracay 2019, by then as more responsible tourists. Can’t wait.
