BUTUAN CITY – Six children, aged three to 14 years old, were rescued by authorities in a raid Thursday of a cybersex den in Purok 6 Silad, Barangay Mahogany in this city, according to social welfare regional information officer Eunice Montaos Plaza on Monday said.

Acting on an information provided by the British National Crime Agency, officers from the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters in Camp Crame teamed up with the PNP Regional Anti-Cyber Crime Office and the Butuan City Police Office (BCPO) in carrying out the raid.
The authorities arrested a suspect, whose name was temporarily withheld pending the arrest of her other cohorts.
Police authorities here said the suspect will be facing charges for violation of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act, Child Abuse Law, and the Anti-Child Pornography Act.
The raid on the cybersex den was also planned with the help of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Region 13 office (DSWD 13), the Regional Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Trafficking, and the International Justice Mission.
In 2015, a British man was caught by authorities at an airport in the United Kingdom where nude photos and videos of children were found in his laptop.
UK authorities dug deeper and found out that the photos and videos were taken in the Philippines, prompting them to inform their Philippine counterparts, it was also gathered.
