MBT: Tigers pounce on Champs

By Rafael Bandayrel The Mandaluyong Tigers mauled the Malabon Champs, 111-100, for their second win in a row in the 2018 16-and-under Metro Basketball Tournament held at the Dapitan Sports Complex, in Sampaloc, Manila. The Tigers dominated down low in the high-scoring affair, as they outscored the Champs by 30 in the paint. Mandaluyong swingman Jayson Arceo erupted for 40 points to go along with his 16 rebounds. Captain Jacob Cortez also added 20 points and pulled down three rebounds. Sean Aldous Torculas and Zheanriz Romero, meanwhile, had productive performances for the Champs, scoring 24 and 21 points, respectively. The Tigers move up to 4-1 after the impressive showing. Meanwhile, Malabon slides to 3-2 after suffering their second consecutive defeat. Both teams will be back on Monday at the Navotas Sports Complex. Mandaluyong will clash with the Caloocan Supremos, while Malabon squares off with the red-hot Valenzuela Workhorses.
