Computer robbery
A man was placed behind bars after allegedly stealing a high-end laptop worth P80,000 in a theft incident Thursday in Sta. Cruz, Manila.
Case investigator PO1 Rudolf Niño Fajardo identified the suspect as Adrian Chris Casequin, 29, of No. 626, Cristobal St., Sampaloc, Manila.
The victim, identified as Alvin Aragon, 37, of No. 1418 Dos Castillas St., Sta. Cruz, Manila. was reportedly inside his house on April 25 at around 9 p.m. when the suspect reportedly entered his house and discreetly took the laptop.
The victim eventually noticed the suspect and tried to catch him but to no avail. The suspect immediately fled the scene.
The victim then sought the help of his father, Nicanor Aragon, 67, a retired police officer, to locate the suspect. After receiving a tip on the suspect's whereabouts, the victim and his father were able to locate the suspect and eventually apprehend him.
The stolen item, a Macbook Pro reportedly worth P80,000, was not recovered from the suspect, who is now under the custody of the Sta. Cruz Police Station. (Hans Amancio)
6 druggies arrested
Six people, including two women, were nabbed during separate buy-bust operations in Valenzuela City and Caloocan City from Tuesday to Wednesday.
First to operate were members of Valenzuela City's drug enforcement unit led by Chief Insp. Jowilouie Bilaro. They apprehended 36-year-old Ammanin Santiago, jobless, of Miguelito Homes in Gen. T. De Leon. Santiago was reportedly included in the drug watch list.
Santiago was arrested after he sold a sachet of shabu worth P200 to PO1 Leo Angelo Loyola in front of his house around11 p.m.
The team also arrested Luis Mercardo, 35, helper, for allegedly buying a sachet of shabu from Santiago, police said.
During the transaction, the policemen then saw Alberto Yting, 23, helper and Maria Virginia Acera, 21, jobless, allegedly having pot session inside Santiago's house.
Seized from Yting and Acera were two sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia.
Meanwhile, in Caloocan, authorities nabbed Kristine Lopez, 35, jobless, and her live-in partner Franco Florentin, 36, jobless, both residents of Quezon City.
The operatives led by Sr. Inspector Allan Hernandez targeted them after receiving reports about their involvement in the illegal drug trade.
An undercover cop reportedly bought a sachet of suspected shabu worth P300 from them. Two more sachets were recovered from them.
Appropriate charges for violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the six suspects. (Kate Louise Javier)
Boy falls from condo’s 9thn floor
A 13-year-old boy died after he accidentally fell from the 9th floor of the condominium unit owned by his grandmother where he was staying for vacation in Quezon City Tuesday afternoon.
Investigators of the Quezon City Police District identified the fatality as Charles Feir, 13, a resident of Barangay Sacred Heart, Quezon City.
According to the boy's grandmother, Evangeline Feir, the victim went to her unit at the Grass Residences in Barangay Sto. Cristo, Quezon City for vacation.
Feir said that he saw her grandson playing games on his mobile tablet inside her unit at the 9th floor of the condominium building before she fell asleep.
She was then awakened by knocks at her door. When she checked who was knocking, she saw the building's security guard who informed her about a boy who fell from the building.
Upon verifying the victim, she confirmed that he was her grandson.
Responding emergency personnel of the building rushed the boy to Quezon City General Hospital where he succumbed to severe injuries on his head.
Man posing as cop arrested; says he bought uniform and badges
A tricycle driver who was posing as a police officer, wearing a uniform he later said he purchased in Camp Crame, was arrested at a checkpoint along NAIA Road, Pasay City Wednesday night.
Police identified the man as Felix Varona, 41, a resident of Ugbo St. Tondo Manila. The suspect was clad in police uniform and had a knife tucked to his waist.
Investigation showed that the man was flagged down at around 9 p.m. at a checkpoint at NAIA road corner Chapel road Barangay 194 in Pasay City.
Law enforcers from the Police Community Precinct (PCP)-9 of the Pasay City Police were conducting a checkpoint when they spotted Varona driving a motorcycle without a helmet.
The suspect who was wearing police uniform even presented an identification card to the police. When verified, it turned it to be fake. A knife was also recovered from his possession.
Varona was brought to the Station Investigation and Detective Management Branch (SIDMB) of the Pasay City Police where he will be facing charges of usurpation of authority, illegal use of uniform and insignia, and possession of deadly weapon.
According to the arrested suspect, he always wanted to be a policeman. He said that he purchased the uniform from Camp Crame including the badges. As for the knife, he said he needed it in case of emergency. (Dhel Nazario)
