1 killed, 14 injured in TPLEX accident

By Liezle Basa IÃ±igo ROSALES, Pangasinan â€” One was killed while 14 others were injured in an accident along Tarlac-Pangasinan, La Union Expressway (TPLEX) in Barangay San Bartolome.

John Corpuz, Rosales chief of police, said around 12:30 a.m. yesterday when a Toyota Hi-ace van bearing plate number AHA2072 met a self- accident at TPLEX in Barangay San Bartolome, Rosales. Corpuz said Shilany Aten-an , 22 years old, single and a resident of Barangay Bangao, Buguias, Benguet, was declared dead on arrival while others were injured. Passengers of the Toyota Hi-ace van were identified as Jeremy De Jesus, 34 , and a resident of Angeles City, Pampanga; Joanna Jose, 26, single resident of Castillejos, Zambales; Lilian Ganado 37, married of Benguet, Baguio City; Gay Pascual, 21, single of Ifugao; Jouie May Quintela , 22, of Cresencia, Baguio; Richelle Franza, 30, of Cubao, Quezon City; Morris Mangupang, 30, and Kaiser Mangupag, 6, both residents of Cubao, Quezon City; Sarah Delos Reyes, 23, San Fernando Pampanga and Aten-An Pacito, 68, married and a resident of Barangay Bangao, Buguias, Benguet, sustained injuries and they were all brought to Del Carmen Hospital while Kristina Mangupang Medina, of Pampanga; Lester Tiyongson Bacani, 18, of Baguio City; Jerry Lachaon and Wilson Guevara, 38, were also injured and brought to Dr. Chan Hospital for medical treatment. Probers said the driver of van identified as Luisito Mora, 44 and a resident of Barangay San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, divulged that while traveling along the said expressway heading north direction the rear left tire incurred defects (blown out) thus lost control of the steering wheel. The vehicle ramped and bumped into the right road gutter and fall right side down causing injuries among passengers. A case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and multiple injuries will be filed in court against the driver
