Police Regional Office (PRO) Eastern Samar reported that it recovered four packs of suspected cocaine found at Barangay Sulangan, Guiuan, Eastern Samar last April 16 estimated market value at P4-million, Friday.
According to the PRO-8 information officer Bella Rentuaya, a certain Jerome Balbuena, 30, a male caretaker of White Sand Beach found a brown packaging while he was walking at the shorelines of Barangay Sulangan at around 2:00 p.m. on April 14.
Rentuaya said due to Balbuena’s confusion on what to do with the brown package, it was only on April 16 that he reported it and turned it over to the authorities of Guiuan Municipal Police Station thru its Acting Chief of Police PSI Wilmer Dadia.
Upon investigation, police found white powdery substance inside the brown package suspected to be dangerous drugs. It was forwarded to the Regional Crime Laboratory (RCLO-8) for chemical examination, Rentuaya reported.
The Forensic Chemical Officer, in its initial screening said the white powdery substance yielded positive of cocaine. The recovered items weighed approximately five kilograms with an estimated market value of P4-million, said Rentuaya. The said contraband will still be subjected for confirmatory examination.
PRO-8 regional director PCSupt. Gilberto dela Cruz directed all line units and stations especially those at the coastline to monitor continuously for possible recovery of same chemicals.
Cruz also told his PNP officials to warn the public to immediately report and coordinate with the PNP and turn-in any recovered chemicals to avoid criminal liability.
