A total of 263 boys from the Summer Capital of the Philippines are now "men", as they went through the so-called "rite of passage to manhood" under the Baguio City government's annual outreach project "Operation Tuli" this year.
Circumcision of elementary and high school students is usually done during summer vacation for some medical and traditional reasons.
Held through the city's Special Services Division and Barangay Affairs Office, the activity is now in its seventh year under the city's "Pasadang Pambarangay" program.
Around 30 surgeons from the Department of Surgery of the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC), supervised by Dr. Honorio Ma. Pangilinan Jr. and Dr. Banny Bay Genuino of the Philippine College of Surgeons Baguio Chapter, performed the operation en masse.
Student nurses from Pines City Colleges and other volunteers also assisted the doctors.
