She has one of the most distinct voices in the local music scene but Zsa Zsa Padilla considers herself more of a storyteller than a singer.
Zsa Zsa Padilla
In a recent interview, she said the reason behind her heartfelt performances are the lessons she learned throughout her journey in life.
In the industry for 35 years now, she credits her mentors and everyone who had helped her become the Divine Diva.
“My secret in staying that long is like what other people would say ‘No man is an island,’” she related. “I was backed by so many people. Especially when I was starting my career ang dami talagang tumulong sa akin – my managers that I will forever be grateful to, the publicists, the band I’ve worked with, mga directors, napakadami.”
Zsa Zsa started her career with the legendary Pinoy band Hotdog in the mid ‘70s before going solo in 1982. In 1987, she ventured into acting via the TV drama series “Lovingly Yours Helen” before appearing on the big screen via “Mga Anak Ni Facifica Falayfay” with her late partner of more than 20 years, the legendary Filipino comedy actor Dolphy Quizon.
In the music scene her notable works includes “Ikaw Lamang” (Gold Album Award) in 1985, “Zsa Zsa” (Quadruple Platinum Award) in 1998, “Sentiments” (Platinum Award) in 1999, and “Unchanging Love” (Gold Album Award) in 2009.
All of the success made waves throughout her career as singer, commercial model, product endorser, businesswoman, and music producer.
Though being a public figure also means her life is an open book, Zsa Zsa is proud she has overcome hurdles by getting off the carousel when needed.
“Actually when I was younger .I would escape. I would go to Las Vegas and just be a normal person,” she recalled. “I would spend time with my parents and would do a lot of chores for them. I stayed with them for a month.”
During time off from work, she contemplates and thinks about things; only to return to her reality once ready to win the battles.
