Cops kill drug pusher, nab 28 others in Cavite and Bulacan

Velez and Anthony Giron Camp Santos, Bulacan/Camp Garcai, Cavite — While the war against illegal drugs continues countrywide, another suspected drug peddler was killed in Bulacan as anti-drugs operations also led to the arrest of 17 suspects in the province and 11 more in Cavite. Senior Superintendnet Romeo M. Caramat Jr., Bulacan police provincial director (PD), said that a certain alias “Ato,” of Barangay Guinhawa, City of Malolos, a known notorious drug pusher in the area and adjacent towns, was killed in a shootout during a buy-bust operation last Wednesday. Elements of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) were forced to shoot it out with Ato in Barangay Igulot, Bocaue town as the suspect allegedly drew his gun and opened fire at lawmen about to arrest him. Meanwhile, 17 other drug suspects were arrested in buy-bust operations conducted by police in San Jose Del Monte City, Angat, Bulakan, Bustos, Bocaue, Pandi, Marilao, San Ildefonso, Guiguinto, and Sta. Maria. In Cavite, a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tank delivery boy and his teenaged brother were arrested also on Wednesday in a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Mulawin, Tanza, the Police Provincial Office (PPO) said. PO1 Ehdcel Manalo, case investigator, said that a police team pounced on Rudy Canta Navela, 34, and his brother Rosque, 18, also an LPG tank delivery boy, after they sold “shabu” worth P300 to a poseur-buyer. The team also seized one small plastic sachet with “shabu” that Rudy was possessing during his arrest in Tanza. At least nine other suspected drug pushers, including four women, were also nabbed by police in operations on the same day in the province’s five districts.
