Benefits for Las Piñas seniors expanded

The free movies at SM Southmall for senior citizens took effect on April 2, 2018. The senior citizens of Las Piñas may avail themselves of the free entry every Mondays and Tuesdays. They may also avail themselves of free movies in Robinsons and Vista Mall cinemas. Witnessing the MOA signing are councilors Renan Riguera, Henry Medina, Felimon Aguilar III, Carlo Aguilar, Rubymar Ramos, Florante Dela Cruz, Ignacio Sangga, Bonifacio Riguera, Alfredo Miranda, and Ben Quilatan, as well as the city’s departments heads.
Las Piñas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar has encouraged all 80,000 registered senior citizens in the city to avail themselves of expanded benefits available to them.
Aguilar said that of the 80,000 registered senior citizens, more than 5,000 of them are indigents who receive P500 monthly allowance from the city government.
The registered senior citizens in the city are given hospitalization support through the “Green Card” program worth P40,000 per individual annually. The city government has partnered with Las Piñas Doctors Hospital, San Juan De Dios Hospital, and Philippine General Hospital to accommodate “Green Card” holders in their wards.
Every Mondays and Tuesdays the seniors may enjoy watching movies for free in SM Southmall, Robinsons Las Piñas, and Vista Malls.
The Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) in the city has intensified its campaign for the senior citizens of the city to have access to medicine booklets, so they can use it to avail themselves of discounts when buying medicine. Agriculture booklets are also available to give them 5-percent discount when buying agricultural products such as rice, meat, fish, poultry, vegetables and fruits.
Likewise, they are also given the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) booklets that they may use to avail themselves of 5-percent discount when buying basic commodities including milk, coffee, bread and sugar.
She urged more senior citizens to register so that they can enjoy these benefits.
