'Miss Tapia' Mely Tagasa passes away

By Karen Valeza The entertainment industry mourns the passing of Mely Tagasa, popularly known as Miss Tapia, on Saturday, March 24. Mely Tagasa a.k.a. Miss Tapia (image from Mely Tagasa's facebook account) Her daughter, writer Gina Tagasa, announced the sad news on her Instagram account. “At 12:26 am today (March 24,2018) our beloved Miss Tapia has joined our Creator. The gates of Heaven open for her. We love you very much, Mommy,” read the post. Days before Mely’s passing, Gina shared that her mother has been in the hospital for several days already, being in comatose after suffering from massive stroke. “Today is Mommy's 12th day in the Hospital-- the last place I've never ever wanted her to be. Seeing my dearly beloved Mother in her probably worst condition- in comatose stage- after a massive stroke and a series of painful medical procedures is like killing me everyday. The most influential woman in my life, my Prayer Warrior, a breath of fresh air that soothes my spirit during down moments, my bestest friend who'd calm me each time I think less of myself, the wind beneath my wings, now lies weak, in deep slumber, unresponsive, almost helpless. She's holding on...until when? Only GOD knows. Pain has never been this fierce for me and my Family. FAITH never leaves us, HOPE keeps us strong and LOVE for our Mom makes each day a test of PATIENCE and ENDURANCE. WE LOVE YOU, MOMMY. The LORD will see us through...I BELIEVE. ♡♡♡ #AnakNiTapia,” Gina posted. She kept her followers updated of her mother’s condition. In one of her posts, Gina said Mely would still move her lips while she was reading her Bible verses. “It's the 14th day of my longest and most exhausting journey ever. I need to decide whether to continue or not. I definitely did not choose this path. It's probably the worst route one would ever take. But the assurance that GOD will catch me if I fall off a cliff and carry me through a rocky or muddy road gives me the courage to walk on and complete the journey with no regrets. To quote my sweet Mother's words of comfort..."ANAK, HUWAG KANG MATAKOT." #AnakNiTapia,” she said. Mely is known for her role as Miss Tapia in the sitcom “Iskul Bukol,” which was topbilled by Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto ans Joey de Leon.
