Gerald Anderson explained that his acting career is not all about titles, fame or even money. It is about how he has nurtured his talent with every job given him by ABS-CBN which is the reason for his stability and longevity in showbiz.

At the recently held press conference of “My Perfect You,” the actor’s newest romcom with Pia Wurtzbach, he expressed how grateful he was with all the opportunities accorded to him by the Kapamilya Network.
“Alam kong hindi ito binibigay sa lahat. At alam kong sobrang mabilis din siyang pwedeng mawala. That’s why I cherish them very much,” he stressed.
This meant giving more than 100% for every TV or movie role that Gerald lands. For example, in “My Perfect You,” he shared that they had a taxing and tedious shooting schedule out of town.
“Pag nag-pack-up na kami, halos tatlong oras na lang mag shoot na ulit kami,” he shared. “But that’s our motivation. What motivated me is our film’s story. If we could give hope to our audience, and if they could learn from it, those things motivate me.”
For Gerald, his drive has always been the movies he is working on.
“Doon po ako focused hindi sa love team or patagalan ng career. Pinaka importante sa akin yung project, yung quality ng project. Kaya kahit papaano nandito pa rin ako,” he added.
Gerald Anderson didn’t just become one of the most sought after lead actors in Philippine cinema overnight. His acting resume would attest to the actor’s hard work and passion for his craft and career. And one of his charms is his universal appeal that he can work well with different actresses in different movies.
As to his latest movie love interest, “first time” lead actress Pia Wurtzbach (Miss Universe 2015), Gerald described her as easy to work with. Obviously, what sets her leading lady apart from her past female co-actresses is the Miss Universe title of Pia. But beyond beauty, the actor saw how dedicated she was during their shooting. He said that Pia never had qualms doing scenes. In one instance, while doing a scene together, he was taken aback when he heard Pia hurt her knee. He thought she would stop but was surprised that she continued like she wasn’t hurt at all.
He added that it would be exciting to watch Pia on “My Perfect You” because it’s like her movie debut.
“Ang maganda kasi wala tayong masyadong napanuod sa kanya. So that makes it more exciting. Sa trailer pa lang, na-excite na ang mga tao. Kaya pala niyang gawin ito. Ito pala itsura niya kapag walang ayos. So yung mga fans niya mula sa Miss Universe, ibang Pia talaga makikita nila. Sobrang napabilib niya ako,” he described.
Another arsenal for Gerald’s hard earned premium lead actor status in showbiz are his directors. For “My Perfect You,” it’s Cathy Garcia-Molina.
“Honestly, feeling ko hindi rin magiging ganun kagaling yung performance ko dito kung hindi dahil kay direk Cathy. Isa sa mahirap or pinaka mahirap na nagawa ko ito. Burn is very complicated. He’s been through a lot and it takes a direk Cathy for me para mabuo yung character na ito,” he confessed.
“My Perfect You” from Star Cinema is in theaters nationwide.
