Developer targets 100,000 housing units

Bataan Governor Abet Garcia, Fiesta Communities president and CEO Wilfredo Tan, and Mariveles Mayor AJ Concepcion hold a giant facsimile cheque that can be used as discount for those who want to avail of the housing units built by Fiesta Communities in Balon Anito, Mariveles, Bataan.
Fiesta Communities, a private developer, in partnership with the government, revealed that it is targeting to construct at least 100,000 housing units in the country in the next few years.
According to Wilfredo M. Tan, president and CEO of Fiesta Communities, the company is “known in the region for being one of the pioneers in building low cost but quality houses.” He expressed this statement during the launch of a 22.29-hectare housing project in Barangay Balon Anito recently.
The construction of the said housing projects is in partnership with the Provincial Capitol, the municipality of Mariveles and Pag-IBIG Fund.
The launch of the biggest housing project in Bataan by the developer was attended by Gov. Abet S. Garcia, Mayor AJ Concepcion, Metro Bataan Development Authority general manager Charlie Pizarro, Pag-IBIG officials, and a number of housing applicants and other guests.
“We are envisioning decent housing for every Filipino and targeting to provide affordable houses to around 90,000 families,” said Tan. He added that this project of this scale was the second to be put up in Bataan and the 17th in North and Central Luzon.
As a response, Gov. Garcia said that this is also a realization of the vision of former Mayor Jesse Concepcion and incumbent Mayor AJ Concepcion.
“This (housing project) came at a time when the workers of the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) have reached more than 40,000 aside from the thousands who indirectly work here,” he said. “Why pay P3,000 monthly rental in bed space alone when you can have your own house and lot by paying only P2,000 in Fiesta communities?”
Tan, for his part, said that the housing unit is “tailor-fit to the needs of workers, families of OFWs particularly members of Pag-IBIG Fund.”
“We asked Gov. Garcia and Mayor Concepcion to give priority to the Pag-IBIG members,” said Tan, adding that his company is also expanding projects in Subic and Olongapo City where they would put up four more communities.
“Our housing project is guarded 24/7 so it is secured. Our priority is to provide the working public a decent and affordable house to dwell in,” added Tan.
Meanwhile, Mayor Concepcion said that the setting up of the housing project in the municipality provides comfort and convenience to the workers as they will now have their own house and lot.
Units range from 30 sqm and up. And with the rapid growth of FAB, more housing units are needed to accommodate the rising number of workers.
