It’s been nearly four years since Karylle and Yael Yuzon exchanged “I Do’s.” For some, that would have been enough time to seal the marriage with a child---but they're not them, are they? Karylle and Yael Yuzon (mb.com.ph) Karylle and Yael Yuzon “If it happens, it happens,” Yael said lightly in a recent interview with Bulletin Entertainment. The Sponge Cola front man added they still want to spend time together without that responsibility. Not that they don’t want it at all. He said they want to focus more on their careers to give their children a bright future. Karylle is not pressured to have a baby soon despite her mother, Zsa Zsa Padilla, recently saying she’s ready to be called “lola.” Admitting she gets overwhelmed before whenever people ask her, “Why don’t you have a baby yet?” at family gatherings, Karylle said she has learned to take it in stride. “Thank God people are become kinder naman na,” she said, smiling. At this point, the two are trying to be the best version of themselves so when the right time comes, they are prepared in more ways than one. “We’re trying to be our healthiest selves kasi parang you want to be healthy when you have baby,” the actress explained. “Right now, we are practicing geography din, we’re trying to get smart kasi ‘di ba mapa-pass down namin ‘yun genetically.” When Karylle does get pregnant, Yael said he is ready with a boy’s name: Luke from his love of “Star Wars." As for Karylle, either gender will do, saying, "Humanist ako eh.” If anything, she won't be a strict mom. “I don’t want to be the hated one eh,” she said, laughing. Yael hopes their kids will become achievers, both academically and in sports. Having a rockstar dad and a musical theater actress mom, does it mean future gigs and early recitals for their little ones? Or maybe a Yuzon band in the making? “Maybe," Yael and Karylle shot back. Yael added, “ Basta I want our future kids to be independent. Gusto namin ‘yung kaya namin makipag-amazing race sa kanila. So let’s see.” ‘Happy Anniv!’ Yael and Karylle will mark their fourth anniversary as a married couple this March and according to them, everything has been smooth sailing since day one. Karylle said the best thing about having Yael as partner is that he is always there in good and in bad times. “The best thing about him is that I have a partner. Like, knowing that there is someone for you. You can say na you have your great day and you want to share it with him,” she said. “But I also have highs and lows, so whenever I’m sad, I’m like, ‘Can you make sure you're free this time? Because it’s K time, sad day.” “Plus I also have a 24/7 masahista in Yael." Did she discover anything surprising about Yael in the last four years, we asked her. Yael butted in, “Kilala mo naman ako nu’ng pinakasalan mo ako ‘di ba---" “Wala naman suprising actually," Karylle said. "It’s just that he doesn’t want to travel pala outside of his comfort zone. But everything else, we’re good." Cool lovebirds When you look at them, it’s easy to think they live a harmonious relationship. But since that only happens in fantasy, Karylle said there’s something they always "fight" over-- keeping clean house. “We’re two messy people so I had to step up talaga. Cleaning is my chore,” she said. According to Yael, marriage has made him wee more domesticated these days. Whenever they have free time, Yael and Karylle make sure to have bonding moments at home. Don’t be surprised but Yael is the “genius in the kitchen,” Karylle disclosed. “You can survive with a dirty floor, but you cannot survive with a dirty food so I win,” he said to her, laughing. Asked about their usual breakfast fare, Yael said coffee is a must. “I'm usually in a mad rush but whenever I have free time, I also make sure I prepare something for him. Then I also make baons for ‘Showtime.’ "Yael is more on the experimenting side. Right now, he really likes inihaw. Sometimes he watches recipes on YouTube, basta cooking is really his forte,” she said. Karylle and Yael were recently launched as brand ambassadors of belVita, the first-ever breakfast biscuit from Mondelez Philippines which aims to address consumers’ growing needs for convenient and delicious well-being snacks.
