Mel reveals secret to staying power

A showbiz insider once told me there was a time actor Mel Martinez and I were alway on the list of talents to choose from for gay sidekick roles on a teleserye. (Ano ba naman ang laban ko, Tita Mel. Tita Mel?!) It’s an honor for me to be considered for a role (bilang ’di naman ako artista!) and to be on a list with Mel who has been acting in movies and television for decades. (Lakas maka-lifetime achievement award!)

Mel Martinez “I am celebrating my 34th anniversary in showbiz this year and I think one important secret to this milestone is consistency,” Mel shared. (’Yung iba consistent sa pagiging inconsistent!) The “Ika-6 Na Utos” mainstay also considers his sister Maricel Soriano part of his staying power in the biz. “I cannot ask for more. She gives me advice, eversince I started acting. She has always guided me.” (Ay, gusto ko rin pa-guide!) There are two special projects he wants to pursue while he is still active in the entertainment industry. (Palaban ang ate nyo!) “I want to have my own movie. I also want to have a movie na tatatak ang character sa Hollywood! I just keep going!” Mel said. (Ako baka hanggang tatak lang ng BFAD ang ma-achieve!) The Miriam College Advertising graduate is also busy with his culinary career which started six years ago. (Sinubukan ko rin yan, pero mas gusto ko nalang kumain!) “Being a chef is both fulfilling and challenging. I just temporarily closed my restaurant because we have plans of expanding it, “ Mel said.
