The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Tropical Storm Basyang has weakened to a tropical depression after making landfall in Surigao Del Sur this morning.

Basyang's center was located over Cantilan, Surigao del Sur and will continue to cross Caraga region as of 10 a.m.
PAGASA said Basyang has packed maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) with gusts of up to 75 kph. It was moving west northwest at 25 kph.
Basyang has weakened from tropical storm to a tropical depression after making landfall in Cortes, Surigao Del Sur at 9:15 a.m.
The state weather bureau noted that Basyang might also make landfall in Camiguin, Siquijor, southern Cebu, southern Negros Oriental and Palawan.
The cyclone is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday morning.
The tropical cyclone warning signal earlier hoisted over 14 areas in Visayas and Mindanao has been lowered.
Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1 remains hoisted over Palawan, including Calamian and Cuyo groups of islands, Aklan, Capiz, Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Siquijor, Bohol, Cebu, Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, southern section of Samar, southern section of Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, northern section of Bukidnon, Lanao del Norte, northern section of Lanao del Sur, Misamis Occidental and northern section of Zamboanga del Norte
PAGASAÂ said scattered to widespread moderate to heavy rains will prevail over Palawan, Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao and Zamboanga Peninsula in the next 24 hours.
Scattered light to moderate with at times heavy rains is expected over Bicol and the rest of Mimaropa.
The public was warned as sea travel remains risky over the seaboards of areas placed under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1, the seaboards of Northern Luzon and Visayas, the eastern seaboards of Central Luzon, eastern and southern seaboards of Southern Luzon, and northern and eastern seaboards of Mindanao.
