Man slain in front of house
A man, who was just waiting for his sister to arrive from work, was gunned down by motorcycle-riding men in front of their house in Caloocan City early Friday morning.
Jon Carson, 38, jobless, of Barangay 186, died on the spot due to five gunshot wounds in the head and shoulder, said case investigator PO1 Eddielou Alon.
Alex Colonel, 34, Carson's friend, told police that they were just sitting in front of the victim's house when two men on a motorcycle arrived and fired shots towards Carson around 2:30 a.m.
Colonel said that Carson was just waiting for his sister to arrive from work when the incident happened.
On a CCTV footage, the gunmen, who then fled, were seen wearing red and black jackets.
Sr. Insp. Dennis Odtuhan, North Caloocan police Investigation chief, said they are still clueless on the motive behind the killing, saying Carson had no involvement in illegal drugs. (Kate Louise Javier)
Girl sells through Facebook
A 13-year-old girl, who allegedly sells illegal drugs through Facebook, was nabbed after she was caught holding sachets of marijuana leaves in Caloocan City on Friday.
SPO2 Peter Joseph Villanueva, investigator on the case, said the girl who is an out-of-school youth and a resident of Daang Bakal Street in Barangay 63, admitted that she sells marijuana leaves through Facebook messenger.
Initial investigation showed that a concerned citizen reported to the barangay watchmen about the girl who was holding sachets containing suspected dried marijuana leaves beside a basketball court on Daang Bakal Street around 4:30 p.m.
Responding barangay watchmen then seized from the minor a pouch containing 13 sachets of suspected marijuana leaves worth P1,300.00.
"The girl tried to run away but barangay watchmen were able to apprehend her," Villanueva said.
The minor was turned-over to the Caloocan police where she then opened her
Facebook messenger showing her transactions.
The girl is now in the custody of the City Social Welfare Development for proper disposition. (Kate Louise Javier)
Drug peddler held
A suspected illegal drug peddler was nabbed Friday in a buy-bust operation in Sta. Cruz, Manila.
Case investigator PO2 Carlito Siy identified the suspect as 37-year-old Lilibeth Relomen of 1860 Antipolo St., Sta. Cruz, Manila.
Station Drug Enforcement Unit-Police Station 3 (SDEU-PS3) led by PCI Leandro Gutierrez along with arresting officers PO1 Edgil Bombase and PO2 Denes Dela Cruz conducted a buy-bust operation against Relomen.
In the operation conducted on February 9, 2018 around 11:00 p.m. along Elias St. corner Antipolo St., Brngy. 368, Sta. Cruz, Manila, an officer successfully purchased two sachets of shabu worth P500 from the suspect .
Arresting officers subsequently arrested Relomen upon the buyer's signal.
Relomen will face charges for Violation of R.A. 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and will be subjected to examination at MPD. (Hans Amancio)
Man with gun causes disturbance
A call from a troubled citizen led to the arrest of a man and seizure of his alleged illegal firearm Saturday in Tondo, Manila.
Police reports identified the suspect as 23-year-old helper Babymar Salatandol of Pier R10 Barangay 101 Zone 8 Vitas Tondo, Manila.
Initial investigation revealed that a desk officer from Raxabago-Tondo Police Station (PS-1) received a call from a concerned citizen about a disturbance in their area allegedly caused by Salatandol.
Upon hearing the complaint, arresting officers proceeded to R10 corner Bldg. 12 Aroma Temporary Housing Tondo, Manila on February 10, 2018 at around 3:05 a.m. to locate Salatandol.
Meanwhile, the suspect, reportedly holding an improvised shotgun, spotted the police officers and immediately ran away. The arresting officers, however, were able to chase and arrest Salatandol.
Salantadol will face charges for Violation of Breach of Peace as well as of R.A. 10591 or Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunition. (Hans Amancio)
