A dentist was suspended for six months by the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) after a complaint of malpractice was filed against him by one of his patient.
In a four-page decision, the PRC suspended Dr. Noel Velasco, an oral surgeon and a dental implantologist for negligence, incompetence and dishonorable conduct.
The PRC also ordered Velasco to surrender his Certificate of Registration and Professional Identification Card.
The suspension of Velaso stemmed from a complaint filed by businesswoman Norilyn Nibre.
Based on the complaint of Nibre, she went to the clinic of Velasco to undergo tooth implant on 2008.
Nibre asked Velasco whether the operation to be undertaken on her would not have any complication since she was a diabetic.
The complainant further said that even she told Velasco that she was diabetic, the dentist proceeded with the tooth implantation that led to several complications and landed her in the hospital.
Nebri claimed that after being hospitalized, she obtained a second opinion from another dentist and found that a nerve was hit during her operation.
