By Mike Crismundo Butuan City – A tectonic earthquake jolted Bukidnon province early Monday morning, Jan. 22, 2018, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said. Bukidnon Map(Photo courtesy of Google Map) Phivolcs said a 3.7 magnitude tremor was recorded at 3:56 a.m. The epicenter was plotted 8 kilometers southeast of Libona town in Bukidnon province. The tremor had a shallow depth of only 3 km. Intensity IV was registered at the town proper of Libona of this same province while Intensity lll was recorded in Cagayan De Oro City; Manolo Fortich and Baungon, of Bukidnon province and Intensity II in the municipalities of Sumilao and Talakag, of Bukidnon province. Earlier, a magnitude2.2 earthquake was registered at 3:16 a.m. of this same day (Jan. 22) and its epicenter was traced 15 km southeast of this same town, with a shallow depth of only 5 km, Phivolcs said. At 3:11 a.m. of this same day, a magnitude 2.9 tremor was recorded and its epicenter was located 11 km southeast of Libona town of that same province, with a shallow depth of only 2 km while another 2.9 magnitude earthquake was registered at 2:54 a.m. of the same day and its epicenter was pinpointed 11 km of the same town and province, with a shallow depth of 4 km, Phivolcs said. The state agency did not raise aftershocks or tsunami alert. The Bukidnon provincial disaster risk reduction and management council there reported no damage or injury when these four series of earthquakes struck early morning on Monday.
