Korean stars take part in Pyeongchang 2018 torch relay

Several Korean stars participated in the Olympic Torch Relay in line with the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea on Feb. 9 till Feb. 25.

The Olympic Torch Relay, a ceremonial event to promote the 2018 Winter Olympics, began last Nov. 1 after the Olympic torch arrived in South Korea from Olympia, Greece.
Under the slogan “Let Everyone Shine,” the 101-day torch relay will cover nine provinces, eight major cities and 151 counties and districts for a total length of 2,018 km. It will be participated in 7,500 torchbearers until the cauldron is lit at the Winter Olympics opening ceremony to be held at the Pyeongchang Olympic Stadium on Feb. 9.
Stars who have participated as Olympic torchbearers include actor Park Bogum; VIXX’s Leo and N; Jeon So Mi; AOA’s Seolhyun, Chanmi and Jimin; Winner’s Mino; Suzy, 2AM’s Jin Woon; Mamamoo’s Hwasa, Moonbyul and Wheein; Cosmic Girls’ Luda, Bona, Yeonjung and Exy; 5Surprise’s Seo Kang Jun, Gong Myeong, Kang Tae Ho, Lee Tae Hwan and Yoo Il, model Han Hye Jin, Yoo Jae Suk, actor Cha Seung Won, B1A4’s Gongchan and Seo Jang Hoon.
The Olympic torch arrived in Seoul on Jan. 13 and the next stops are Gyeonggi Province and Gangwon Province where Pyeongchang is located.
Big Bang’s Taeyang, who was appointed as honorary ambassador of the 2018 Winter and Paralympic Games, released the song “Louder” last Jan. 10 in support of the successful hosting of the Games.
The Pyeongchang Organizing Committee also recently appointed actor Lee Dong Wook, who starred in the hit drama “Goblin,” as new honorary ambassador of the Winter Olympics.
