Tacloban City – Tropical Depression Agaton triggered floods in 30 barangays in eight towns in Leyte province and affected 334 families, the provincial governor’s office reported Friday.
Leyte Governor Leopoldo Dominico L. Petilla said the worst hit town was Palo where floods hit the barangays of Zone 1 Cabarasan Guti, Hibacaan, Cangumbang; Cogon Zone 1-3, Gacao Sitio Baluyan, Salvacion Zone 5; San Antonio, San Joaquin Zone 3, Tacuranga and Bunga.
Cabarasan Guti, Cogon, and San Joaquin were still flooded as of Friday, Petilla said, and 186 families took shelter at an evacuation center.
In the town of Albuera, 11 families from barangays Cambalading and Antipolo had to evacuate.
In Dulag town, floods affected the barangays of San Jose, Calubian, Dacay, Magsaysay, Gen. Roxas, Calipayan, Cabatoan, San Antonio and San Isidro, with 48 families seeking shelter at San Jose National High School in the town proper.
A family evacuated in Tan-auan town and 40 families fled in Barangay Guindaohan, Barugo town.
In Alang-alang town the barangays of Dapdap, Langit, Mudboron and San Antonio were flooded. There were 33 families evacuated to safer place.
In Babatngon town 48 families in one barangay had to leave their homes.
In Jaro town, the barangays of Uguiao, Bias Zabala and Pitogo were flooded after nearby rivers and creeks overflowed.
