In a series of photos and videos compiled by Alfred Ang from the residents of the city, the tornado, which hit the villages of San Roque and Sta. Elena, left damage on some structures and establishments such as the Our Lady of the Abandoned Church, Kapitan Moy, Otto Shoes Building, and Marikina’s Shoe Museum.
At least two century-old acacia trees were also uprooted due to the tornado; one was located on J.P. Rizal Street in front of the shoe museum.
Meanwhile, two residents were electrocuted after a transmission line also fell in the area where the incident occurred.
According to Marikina City Mayor Marcelino Teodoro, the victims are now in stable conditions.
Teodoro said the tornado spanned a kilometer radius, hitting at least twenty homes.
Ongoing clearing operations were conducted by the local government unit with the help of electric power distributor company.
The mayor added that at least eight villages experienced power outages, which will be restored until Saturday in some areas.
