Globe Telecom sets up Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging booths for Surigao quake victims

Globe Telecom Libreng Tawag and Libreng Charging stations are now available in Surigao City to serve residents who needs to get in touch with their friends and relatives after a strong 6.7 magnitude earthquake shook Surigao del Norte Friday evening, causing power failure and damage to lives and properties.

The booths are located at the Luneta Park and the Provincial Gym in Rizal corner Gonzales Street in Surigao City and are operational daily from 8am–6pm and 9am–6pm, respectively, until electricity is restored in the area.
According to ABS-CBN News, National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) recorded the quake damaged over 1,000 houses, 5 roads, 6 bridges, 12 school facilities, a hospital and an airport runway.
NDRRMC spokesperson Mina Marasigan added the initial cost is estimated at P 108.45 million.
Relief goods are being sent to Surigao City, including 5 units of water filtration system to provide drinking water.
“We continue to fly aid to Surigao,” Marasigan said, noting that the disaster agency is also waiting for the availability of another cargo plane to send more aid in Surigao.
Meanwhile, aftershocks continue to rattle the city with the last one recorded to have a 4.1-magnitude strength and a 30-km depth, at 3:51 a.m., today.
