Leonardia said that the 14-day lockdown of the area already ended on May 5. Nine family members of Patient No. 8, nine health workers, and six community contacts of the said patient tested negative during the swab tests, the mayor said. Leonardia commended barangay captain Rommel Flores for his leadership and for ensuring the safety of his constituents. He also thanked all the residents of Purok Sabes for cooperating during the two-week lock down. "The results came out good for them and for the whole city," he said. Meanwhile, Leonardia said that Bacolod has recorded its third COVID-19 fatality. Patient No. 3, who tested negative in his two swab tests, died on May 2, due to cardiac arrest while being treated at the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center. He was the son of the 62-year-old woman who also died because of COVID-19 here on March 31. Leonardia, in his earlier statement, said that the case of Patient No. 3 was not considered a COVID death because of his recovery from the virus and his negative results in his repeated swab tests, but the Department of Health (DOH) classified the case as a COVID death, although they admitted it was a unique case. “That is sad news but let me take this chance to remind our people again that we are indeed facing a difficult time as we fight COVID-19,” he said.
