Agents of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) have arrested a Jordanian-Israeli national wanted for a string of criminal cases by authorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the United Kingdom (UK)
Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said 45-year-old Tarek Nihad Siam was apprehended last Wednesday by BI operatives at the headquarters of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Ermita, Manila.
Morente said the BI took Siam under its legal custody after the NBI informed the bureau about the alien’s arrest last Jan. 26 for illegal gun possession and slight physical injuries.
“He will remain under the physical custody of the NBI pending resolution of the criminal cases against him by our local courts,” the BI chief said.
The Interpol’s national central bureau (NCB) in Manila reported that Siam is wanted in Abu Dhabi for physical assault, indecent assault and alcohol abuse.
A court in the emirate had already issued a final judgement sentencing him to one-year imprisonment.
Siam was also being sought by UK authorities in connection with the hijacking of two luxury yachts in Dubai that were used by human traffickers and gun runners.
The boats were originally owned by a company of Siam and believed sailed to the Philippines where the fugitive intended to retire following his arrival in 2020.
