Muntinlupa City gov't recognized for COVID-19 measures, help to business community
The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI)-Muntinlupa has recognized the Muntinlupa City government for its efforts in curbing the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and its help to local businesses during the pandemic.

PCCI-Muntinlupa president Elvie Sanchez-Quiazon gave the Sterling Growth Catalyst Award to Mayor Jaime Fresnedi for his leadership in addressing the COVID-19 crisis and help in sustaining the local economy.
During the pandemic, the Muntinlupa City government opened a COVID-19 swab facility in Bgy. Tunasan for targeted mass testing, isolation facilities for patients in each barangay, a field hospital at Ospital ng Muntinlupa, and its own crematorium, and launched an online free mental health consultation.
In the last few months, the local government has distributed relief goods to all barangays and hired close to about 3,700 displaced workers. Other displaced workers were also given food packs as assistance.
Through ordinances, the city government implemented strict measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease including mandatory wearing of face masks, social distancing, liquor ban, and 24-hour curfew.
It extended the tax payment deadline for businesses and coordinated with them, especially malls to ensure that COVID-19 health protocols are implemented and followed.
The local business chamber also awarded Muntinlupa’s City Health Office (CHO) the Noble Award for its “unwavering generosity of providing its expertise on allocating help to the community to attain public health safety.”
Fresnedi thanked PCCI-Muntinlupa for the recognition of the city government’s COVID-19 response efforts to minimize its health, economic, and social impacts on the city. He also praised Muntinlupa’s frontliners for their hard work.
As of July 22, there are 932 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Muntinlupa including 439 recoveries and 64 deaths, leaving 429 active cases.
