3 cities, 15 municipalities in Bulacan suspend classes

The Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) announced the suspension of classes in three cities and 15 municipalities, both public and private schools, on Thursday, September 19, due to light to moderate rains brought by Tropical Depressions Gener and Helen, as well as the enhanced southwest monsoon.

Calumpit Mayor Lem Faustino said that the suspension of classes was based on the recommendation of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), as the moderate to heavy rainfall was worsened by rising floodwaters caused by the high tide.

He added that schools were advised to implement the Alternative Delivery Mode (modular and online) to allow students to continue their lessons from home.

The mayor urged residents to stay safe, vigilant, and to follow official updates on social media.

In Malolos City, classes in Kindergarten to Grade 12, and pre-school to high school in the City of Baliuag, were also suspended.

Other municipalities that suspended classes included Balagtas, Bulakan, Bustos, Hagonoy, Pandi, Pulilan, Obando, Marilao, Meycauayan City, Paombong, Plaridel, Santa Maria, San Rafael, San Miguel, and San Ildefonso.
