A 41-year-old woman, listed as a high-value individual (HVI) in the illegal drugs trade, was nabbed by members of the Southern Police District Drug Enforcement Unit (SPDDEU) in a buy-bust operation in Makati City Thursday, September 5.
The suspect was identified as "Mel." She was arrested in Barangay Singkamas where she yielded P340,000 worth of shabu and other paraphernalia.
The seized pieces of evidence were turned over to the SPD Forensic Unit for further examination.
Meanwhile, a complaint for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act will be filed against the suspect before the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office.
The SPD said the operation is in line with the Philippine National Police's (PNP) campaign "Sa Bagong Pilipinas, ang Gusto ng Pulis Ligtas ka!" under PNP chief PGen. Rommel Francisco Marbil.
The SPD added that Mel's arrest also underscored its unwavering commitment, as well as its partners, in the fight against illegal drugs and in ensuring public safety.
