The Navotas City local government on Thursday, June 27, announced that it conducted a youth camp for young residents during their school vacation to enhance their skills in sports and arts.

A total of 477 young Navoteños aged 10 to 19 years old were trained in various sports, while 150 were trained in arts.
Mayor John Rey Tiangco commended the students for joining the activities during their school break.
“We're glad that you chose to use your school vacation to improve your talents and skills. We hope you enjoyed the workshops and gained new friends. Continue to develop yourself and improve your abilities,” he said.
Tiangco expressed hope that the event would promote a holistic development and he encouraged the young Navoteños to explore their talents and interests.

The sports category includes arnis, athletics, sepak takraw, football, touch football, pencak silat, wushu, basketball, volleyball, judo, karate, taekwondo, and swimming.
A private company sponsored the additional equipment and art kits for the campers.
Meanwhile, young artists joined the arts category to learn guitar, voice, dance, visual arts, and theater arts.
The mayor urged the parents to continuously support their children’s interest in sports and arts.
“Arts and sports help develop our children’s characters. Let us support their interests and help them shine in whatever they choose to do,” Tiangco said.
The local government said they support the students who excel in sports and arts through the Navotas Athletics and Arts Scholarship Program.
