ILOILO CITY -- The provincial government of Antique is planning to rent roll-on, roll-off (RoRo) vessels to deliver basic goods and gas after key bridges and roads were damaged by tropical storm Paeng.

“This is one of our options,” said Governor Rhodora ‘Dodod’ Cadiao.
“We need one RoRo for gas supply and another one for goods,” the governor added.
The delivery of basic goods and gas supply has been hindered after the Oyungan Bridge was damaged by Paeng.
The bridge connects two towns in southern Iloilo province and is thus a vital passageway for vehicles going to and from Antique province.
In Antique province, the Paliwan Bridge was also damaged after a section of it collapsed. The bridge connects the towns of Bugasong and Laua-an.
Cadiao told Manila Bulletin in a phone interview Thursday, November 3, that the rental for RoRo vessels can be sourced out from the Quick Response Fund (QRF) following the declaration of state of calamity by President Marcos Jr.
Cadiao has earlier expressed that Paeng’s devastation was widespread and was not anticipated since Antique was only under Storm Signal No. 1 at that time.
Paeng killed more than a dozen people and displaced 175,420 persons in 18 towns. The storm also damaged more than 3,200 houses.
Paeng also left a damage worth P89.6 million in the agriculture sector, based on an initial report.
