Malabon University officials face probe over alleged extortion, illegal activities

By Joseph Almer Pedrajas The City of Malabon University (CMU) is facing investigation over allegations of extortion and other illegal activities inside the campus. Mayor Lenlen Oreta on Friday ordered the city's legal office to launch a probe on the city university after receiving reports that some CMU officials were allegedly extorting money and school supplies from students. Oreta said some school supplies and equipment have gone missing "without valid explanation." "Pinasisilip din ni Oreta ang ulat na tampering sa enrolment ng mga estudyante at ilan pang anomalya na labis na ikinababahala ng butihing mayor ," the local government said in a statement. Oreta directed the city’s legal office to identify the individuals behind the illegal activities and file appropriate charges.
