Although happy with the dismissal of the sedition case filed against them, Kalookan Bishop Pablo David expressed hope that the charges against certain individuals, which include two priests, will also be dismissed.

"I am both happy and sad about the DOJ resolution. Happy that the criminal charges of sedition, inciting to sedition, obstruction of justice, cyber libel, and estafa filed against me, my brother bishops, and the rest of my fellow respondents by the PNP CIDG have been dismissed by the panel of prosecutors that did the preliminary investigation," he said in a statement.
"Sad that the same panel still found probable cause to indict the two priests, Fr. Albert Alejo SJ, Fr. Flavie Villanueva SVD and several other individuals of 'conspiracy to commit sedition.' I still hope and pray that the charges against them be also dismissed soon by the courts," David added.
Lingayen Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas prayed for those who have been charged.
"I know the Lord will turn your anxieties into hope. Do not be afraid," he said.
Villegas said he too will continue to pray despite the dismissal of the charges against them.
"Now that the government officials have seen the falsity of the charges, what can we do but pray as I have always been doing. I pray even more. Prayer is my duty. Prayer is my power. Prayer is my life," he said.
He said he is also praying for those who "concocted the calumnies and lies" and wished them “peace.”
David and Villegas, as well as Cubao Bishop Honesto Ongtioco and retired Novaliches Bishop Teodoro Bacani thanked all those who helped, prayed, and supported them.
"Thank you dear friends for all the prayers and moral support," said David.
"I thank our lawyers and the panel of prosecutors for upholding the truth," Bacani said.
"I thank you for all your prayers and support," said Ongtioco.
The Department of Justice on Monday ruled that the bishops showed no intention of committing sedition and that the complaints filed by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group lacked evidence.
The sedition case and other charges stemmed from a viral video accusing President Duterte and his family of being involved in the illegal drugs trade.
