Twin victories for Sibol in IESF Asia-Oceania as MLBB, Dota 2 teams reign surpreme
Sibol national teams in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Dota 2 captured two gold medals in the IESF Asia-Oceania qualifiers last week in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Both already assured of spots in the World Esports Championships in Romania, the two Filipino squads went on with their impressive runs in the continental tiff that netted them at least P378,000 each team. The Sibol MLBB team composed of players from AP Bren, lorded over the competition, only dropping one game in all the sweep of its all series in the tournament, capped by a 3-0 conquest of Mongolia in the finals. Marco “Super Marco” Requitano, Angelo “Pheww” Arcangel, Kyle “KyleTzy” Sayson, David Charles “FlapTzy” Canon, and Rowgien “Owgwen” Unigo all made sure that their match against the Mongolians won’t be the same as their upper bracket clash where the Filipinos had to author a come-from-behind series clinching win. Sibol’s Dota 2 team, on the other hand, had to recover from a shock 2-0 loss at the hands of Myanmar in the upper bracket finals to rule the tournament. The crew composed mostly of Polaris Esports players in Marvin "Boomy" Rushton, Bryle "cml" Alvizon, Jun "Bok" Kanehara, Eljohn "Akashi" Andales, Mc "Mac" Villanueva, Justine "Tino" Grimaldo bounced back from the tough loss by sending Mongolia packing with a 2-0 win in the lower bracket finals. Sibol Dota 2 team then avenged its earlier loss to Myanmar with a dominant 2-0 sweep to reign supreme in the tiff. Both MLBB and Dota 2 teams will return back to action in the IESF WE Champs 2023 in Iasi, Romania from Aug. 25 to Sept. 9.
