3,500 solo parents receive gift certificates in Valenzuela City

Around 3,500 solo parents in Valenzuela City received gift certificates from the city government on Monday, May 8. Valenzuela City Mayor Weslie “Wes” Gathalian led the distribution of the P500 gift certificates to the beneficiaries  at the Valenzuela City People’s Park Amphitheater. The city government said the event aims to further assist eligible solo parents in the city who tirelessly provide for the needs of their families.  The beneficiaries can use the gift certificates for groceries in different supermarkets in the city. “Nawa’y ang munting regalo na ito ay makatulong sa inyo at sa inyong pamilya (May this small gift help you and your family),” Gatchalian said.  The event is part of the city’ Solo Parents’ Day celebration where various activities like a cooking show, job caravan, livelihood and financial literacy trainings, and free legal assistance were lined up.  Around 7,500 solo parents have received their gift certificates, the local government said.
