Employees who will work on June 28, which was declared as national holiday in line with the celebration of the Eid al-Adha or Feast of Sacrifice, are entitled to receive doube pay, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said.
On Thursday, June 22, DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma issued Advisory 14, Series of 2023 which established a guidelines for the accurate calculation of employees' compensation for the officially proclaimed regular holiday.
"Voluntary compliance with labor laws, including correct wage payment during holidays, denotes workplace excellence and redounds to the competitiveness of business and the country's industries,” Laguesma said
Employees who will work during the regular holiday are qualified for 200 percent of their salary for the first eight hours.
Computation will be basic salary x 200 percent.
Employees that will not report for work during the regular holiday will receive 100 percent of their wage for that day, given that they worked or were on leave of absence with pay on the day prior to the regular holiday.
In addition, employees who will work on the regular holiday, which also falls on their rest day, will receive an additional 30 percent of the 200 percent basic wage, as stated in the advisory while those who will work overtime will be compensated an additional 30 percent of their hourly wage on the specified day.
