DMW commits best legal defense for Pinay arrested in Japan

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has committed to provide legal and other forms of assistance to Hazel Ann Morales who was arrested in Tokyo over suspicions that she abandoned the cadavers of two Japanese couple who were allegedly stabbed dead inside their home.

DMW officer-in-charge Undersecretary Hans Leo Cacdac said they have already started coordinating with the concerned government agencies in Japan that the Philippine government intends to provide lawyers for Morales.

“It has come to our attention and we are fully in touch with the Japanese authorities to help her,” said Cacdac in an interview over Teleradyo.

“We are already geared up to provide legal assistance we are in coordination with the Japanese authorities, have made known to the Japanese authorities that we intend to provide such legal and other forms of assistance to her,” he added.

Morales was reported to have been arrested early this week over reports that she abandoned the Japanese couple. It is not immediately clear as to the extent of her involvement in the crime.

Cacdac said they are in constant coordination with the Department of Foreign Affairs in connection with Morales case.

“We will provide the best legal defense for her,” said Cacdac.

He added that they have also started coordinating with the family of Morales in the Philippines to inform them of the government’s action that includes providing all forms of assistance.
