Vive La France!

Ten exquisite wines from France’s major wine regions are ready to commence a good year and indulge your palettes. The Oakroom restaurant at Oakwood Premier in Ortigas recently announced the celebration of Vive La France French Wine Festival.
The said wine selection comes from 10 major wine regions of France including Bordeaux, Provence, Bourgogne, Loire Valley, Alsace, Languedoc-Rousillion and Northern and Southern Rhone. Every region possesses a distinct character owing to the type of soil (“terroir”), climate, and the winemaker’s own formula for processing which makes each wine distinct from the other.
“We are excited about this festival which is Oakroom’s opening event for 2010. It highlights the products of the largest wine producer in the world and coupled with traditional French cuisine by our French Executive Chef Jerome Cartailler, we guarantee an authentic and fabulous French dining experience,” said Brian Connely, Oakwood Premier’s General Manager.
The said wines are all accredited and guaranteed for quality through the Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC) system. The French initiated the Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée system in 1935 as a means of safeguarding the quality of winemakers, vineyards, and areas.
For “Vive La France,” the featured wines are tailored to fit the Asian palate which is beginning to mature in its appreciation of wines. Asian wine preferences tend towards aromatic and flavourful types with a fresh, crisp taste and elegant tannins that contribute to a balance between body and acidity.
For the convenience of diners, suggested wines are listed on the a la carte menu — hors d’ouevres matched with light citrusy flavours; entrees with a choice of full-bodied white or easy-to-drink reds; and desserts with a sweet variety.
The Oakroom’s “Vive La France” French Wine Festival will run until February 7, 2010. Oakwood Premier is located at 17 ADB Avenue, Ortigas Center, Pasig.
